A brief historical timeline of Reiki
A brief historical timeline of Reiki
Reiki is a mystical healing energy which was transmitted to Dr. Mikao Usui on Mt. Kurama Yama, Japan in 1922 while undertaking his spiritual quest for enlightenment. After receiving Reiki Dr. Usui began healing many people, established Reiki clinics throughout Japan, and developed Reiki into a system of energy healing. From 1922 – 1937 Reiki was popularized, practiced, and taught under the directorship of Dr. Mikao Usui and his student-disciples. But during this period, Reiki was disseminated only in Japan.
Shortly before World War II broke out, political unrest imposed an imminent threat of extinction to Reiki. To prevent this, a decision was made to send Reiki to the West. In 1937, Reiki left Japan for the first time and arrived in Hawaii, United States with the intention of preserving and continuing the practice and teaching of Reiki for the benefit of humanity and posterity. Since then, Reiki has taken roots in the West and continues to develop as the most widely recognized energy healing modality in the United States and throughout the world.
What is traditional Usui Reiki and Holy Fire® III Reiki?
What is traditional Usui Reiki and Holy Fire® III Reiki?
Traditional Usui Reiki is the Reiki healing system developed by Dr. Mikao Usui and is the original Reiki which was brought to the United States in 1937. Usui Reiki is the standard Reiki practice in the United States; it is the most widely practiced form of Reiki in the United States and worldwide. Through the years Reiki has gone through its evolution and different adaptations or extensions of Usui Reiki have emerged to bring more healing benefits to the world and to better serve humanity which has been going through its own evolution.
Holy Fire® Reiki is the latest form of Reiki which came into existence in January 2014. Since its emergence in 2014, Holy Fire® Reiki has gone through two additional upgrades. Each upgrade gives Holy Fire® Reiki greater power, quicker results, and more flexibility in its usage and application for healing as well as teaching. On September 21, 2018 in Kurama, Japan, Holy Fire® III Reiki came into being; it is the third and latest upgrade of Holy Fire® Reiki.
*At Dharma Reiki & Acupuncture, we practice and teach Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki which is the combination of traditional Usui Reiki and Holy Fire® IIII Reiki.
