Causes of diabetes according to Chinese medicine principles:

According to Chinese medicine principles the underlying cause of diabetes is organ deficiency, specifically relating to the lungs, spleen, stomach, and kidneys. A poor diet, reckless or destructive lifestyle, and long-term chronic stress play a huge role in the development of diabetes as they contribute to the decline of the organs. As diabetes progresses, the functions of the related organs become more deficient and degenerative with time regardless that a person is on medications.

In order to address diabetes, the functions and vitality of lungs, spleen, stomach, and kidneys must be supported - diabetic medications are not doing this and thus leaving the root causes untreated. This is the reason why long-time diabetic patients are not able to control their sugar, even with multiple medications and increased dosages, the sugar continues to spike due to their weakened organs rejecting the medications. Not until they get on a regimen with acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy that the vitality of the affected organs begin to revive and the body is able to accept medications again. As a result, the sugar is brought under control.

Chinese medicine has been proven extremely effective in treating diabetes. The following protocol is what you can expect for diabetes treatment at our clinic.

  • The initial course of treatment comprises of 6-12 weekly sessions depending on the severity.

  • After completion of the initial course of treatment, an on-going maintenance program must be kept in order to continue supporting the body and the organs involved. When staying on this regimen faithfully and care is given to the diet and exercise, patients are able to keep sugar under control, enjoy more functionality and vitality in daily life.

  • Long term diabetics may have to continue staying on their medications, however they should be able to eventually go down in the dosage of medications or eliminate some of the medications.

  • People who are pre-diabetic or in the early stage of diabetes have an excellent opportunity to get off all medications and use only natural support such as acupuncture, herbs, natural healing modalities, a proper diet and lifestyle to control and prevent the progression of diabetes.
